Let's hear your opinions on the show. I watched it yesterday and it reminds me of I,Tonya in that the main character's upbringing and family dynamic allows you to feel compassion for her but you still have trouble trusting her because she is still a very flawed, potentially Machiavellian individual.

I thought it was pretty interesting seeing the family dynamics and the press situations that happened with Rachel a few months ago.

For me, the additional context makes me understand and empathize but also, it makes me question her motives in ways that I hadn't previously. Definitely left me with more questions than answers.

Funniest part of the movie was when Rachel went to the lecture hall. When the moderator mentioned that he identified as a white female, the reaction shots that the director captured had me rolllling

I know thecoli is avoiding this but it paints that she had a shyt childhood by abusive white parents. While it's inherently wrong to assume the identity she did, it kinda tells the story that the media wanted to hide: she was doing a lot for the black community and her parents really fukked her up, which could've caused a mental issues; this was partly an act of rebellion against them/disassociation with white people.

They were adopting black kids to abuse, possibly sexually as well.

She is artistically sound, which usually indicates some sort of suffering...

The shyt really has me conflicted.

Haven't finished watching but you're right she seems traumatized by her childhood and in trying to combat racism she is just doing too much.
