Isn't Forcing Companies To Manufacture In America Just Affirmative Action For Whites?

But the residual effect would be more employment opportunities for blacks :yeshrug:
Residual affect & direct intention need to be distinguished.

OP makes a very good point & this concept would make a good discussion but a great case study & book.

In an attempt to ensure profit to American businesses & workers, Americans need not be the BEST, they merely need to be American.

How can I flush this argument out? Ideas please

Okay.

You have to get statistics on American Industry's ups & downs. Their impact on facets like the GDP, GNP & most importantly how public perception both foreign & domestic are impacted by the health of American Industry.

You have to also do your research on the origins of Affirmative Action - why the people who had the power of implementation actually pushed for it - & the state of Black Education, Economic Health & Progress before & after Affirmative Action.

Considering we'd be writing this book from the HONEST perspective, I'd imagine, we would all agree that Affirmative Action is a systematic defense of an illness of Institutional Racism.
What I mean is, "much like the Criminal Justice System, Affirmative Action clearly shows the blood on the hands, dollar bills & education institutions of this Country." Affirmative Action shouldn't even be a term because this Country should have been doing its job in providing for the proper development & education for people of Color(Pan Africans) from the beginnings of Emancipation.

But they didn't. Justapose that ^ with the idea that this Country has cared more about the large corporation than the business owner for so long that "Buy American" has become a shameful defense of the U.S' improper handling of its economic health.

Dramatic Literacy will propel the reader to continue going on to the next chapter. Relevant, Honest & ACCURATE statistics & sourcing will be the glue that sets the book up as part of required reading from both a Black prospective & a "Industry must read" for those in Business fields.

People don't realize, writing & citing documentary works to push a movement is part of the puzzle. If you can put forth material that helps empower Black people's gut feelings while also indoctrinating the future financial & education leaders of this Country...the Ball moves closer to the Goal.

Breh...I think you should consider this. I'm working on a bunch of projects - literature, movements & such - but I'd help you out.

****
Also, strategic wording is important. How far can a book or documentary go if we use "Whites bytching" as opposed to "American Interests feeling the crunch & lashing back with 'patriotic styled' economic initiatives."

The former clearly is accurate & many Black people will support your thesis however, the goal would be not only "confirm what we believe" but it would also be to become Canon in the economic & political discussion in this Country.

Chess not Checkers.

I would say look at the automotive industry, esp. in Detroit. And if that played any part in Detroit's demise in regards to Blacks and go from there. You can also go deeper down the "rabbit hole" and look at the owners of the companies that moved their production facilities out of the U.S. and where their political affiliations lay.

For a while their "affirmative action" was such a rallying cry for whites who weren't progressing in life, but once the statistics for Black unemployment came out, they had to change the argument and make it about Mexicans. Once middle american whites realize these companies don't give a shyt about them, the whole notion of blaming Black and brown people will become useless rhetoric.

Market protectionism isnt a new concept. States and empires have been doin this for centuries.
No doubt but it's still carving out an exception of nationality against free market principles. The economy is global and America is white. America is the white candidate asking the company to consider nationality, which is essentially race. It's that simple.

What restricting on outsourcing is OP specifically talking about, I need some sort of citation? And before ppl start claiming the benefits that whites are suppose to receive from the limiting of international outsourcing has anyone actually check'd the evidence to even see if the benefits are indeed valid?

I know the Bush administration's restrictions on steel imports have been credited with saving a number of jobs in the steel industry, but at the same time it costed a larger number of jobs in industries making steel products because the increase cost of the steel compared to the foreign competitors. Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan pretty much stated the same thing back in 04 would occur if restricting on outsourcing was ever put in place.

Breh, this is why the concept is so interesting. When you think about the pros & cons of Affirmative Action, you have good arguments on both sides regarding its sustainable positive effect. Same with many "buy American" initiatives.

I think part of what would be discussed is whether both indicate a sinking ship that possibly does more harm to who "it's supposed to help."

Just curious about what other projects you're working on.

Thanks Breh. I'm actually an attorney in New York. Criminal Law - So I cringe everyday at the continuing effects of Institutional Racism on my people & honestly, the damaging effects that Institutional Racism has on every new born white child - They literally are born into this world being indoctrinated that obstacles are the same for everyone & that, somehow, the nexus of deep seated racism has been broken in this country.

Anyway... I'm always trying to do more because most people in the legal field (including myself in the beginning) aren't doing shyt to right this ship. People from the outside wonder about what Professional Blacks go through...and I'll tell you this... you fall on one of 3 sides...

1- You buy in completely. Somehow justifying that being apart of this system in your capacity means that there is hope. Completely ignoring the fact that if you are a defense attorney, you're man objective is to get the best deal for your client, not challenge the system. Ignoring the fact that if you are a prosecutor, by not challenging policy, you are damning groups of people - from the poor to the uneducated to Black people - to a world of growing mountains between their current situation and a productive life.

2- You just remain ignorant. What you see, doesn't hurt you. But they know it is impossible to NOT see it. So the new mantra is "What you don't think about deeply, doesn't kill your soul." So they continue on...indifferent. They aren't the equivalent to the SS soldiers placing Jews & Gypsies in ovens...but they are the cook who puts the mash potatoes on the plate of the SS soldiers. They are allowign the system to continue.

or 3 - The saddest. When you are not sleep...everyday your soul is stabbed by the policies that you see. You try everything you can to balance making a living & being ethical & maintaining your belief that the system is fukked. You do everything you can to offset what the justice system contributes to. But all the while, you realize that the only way is to leave the profession & start at the ground, being in a position to help our people become knowledgeable about this hell that is swirling around them that they can't see.

My bad for the rant, but I'm def bout this life breh. I'm always trying to come up with an algorithm to waking our people up much like Einstein being int he lab trying to get the algorithm for the Theory of Relativity.

I will be "on the surface" about the projects I'm trying to bring into fruition though. I don't want to set goals for myself publicly without actually completing them & some of the ideas, I don't want stolen. Ha.

1- I am writing a book about my experience working in the Criminal Justice system. A personal account with a vision that every Black person who steps into the industry will HAVE TO READ.

2- I'm working on an initiative to increase awareness for Black literacy. 85% of Black youth are reading below level. Reading is the fundamental ingredient to a successful cultural & political Renaissance. So it's very important to me.

3- The most ambitious. I honestly am always thinking about App development. That is the key, financially, in my opinion. The App Industry is the new DotCom bubble...without the burst. Phones are going no where & people will forever use their phones as minicomputers. If we had more pushes for Black App development developed by individuals with a soul in Black Empowerment...imagine what a $400 Mill - $4 Bill buyout for the next Instagram or Snapchat do for a movement.

^If I had Zuckerberg money after developing Apps...I'd do the biggest viral campaign movement in history. I would attempt to counter every negative indoctrination in the most innovative ways, breh...

shyt... I feel like Shorty int he wheelchair in Don't Be A Menace In South Central... "Yea, I've got a dream."
