Yeah I'm thinking his name is Thor and they're just calling her Thor because they wanted to make a female superhero have his powers but hide her identity. It creates this weird situation where his name is being used as a title for the current God of thunder if she's even considered that.

That statement is false. There's been other people given the powers and title of Thor breh. There is only one Thor Odinson but whoever mjlonir finds worthy is given the powers of Thor God of Thunder(they become Thor God of Thunder).
