Is there still a reason to have The Root at this point?

Most "Black" topics still get posted here in TLR where they get more replies. The Root started off as a good idea and for a while it seemed like people really wanted to post intelligent threads that people could build on, but eventually the forum became "TLR Lite" with people basically posting "conscious" versions of TLR threads, and now the forum is mostly dead. At the time of this post half the threads on the front page of The Root are from one dude who bumps all of his threads.

Is there any reason to still have the The Root as a separate forum? I know people wanted to have a separate forum for serious threads without being overshadowed by TLR fukkery, but it doesn't seem to be working that well if people aren't posting there anymore. There are several good threads that were posted there and they could probably benefit if The Root was merged into TLR and those threads could get more replies.

Do you want quality or quantity? From jump, the most visible complaint was people,couldnt see those things.

Fact is, the people that really want to will post. Pretending that there is hundreds of posters giving thoughtful input is fantasy. Most topics usually involve people all agreeing with each other on something...or fighting. Arguing = numbers. Its hardly any real intellectual sensibilities being shared, and we all know it.

That and some moderation issues pretty much sealed the deal.

Why would you want the TLR fukkery on serious discussions? It doesn't matter if many people aren't posting anymore, the root is a niche; and a good one at that.

I'm not worried about getting replies and daps and whatever for myself. I was happy when The Root was first created. I just think that important, non-fukkery threads that are posted could benefit from more views even if they come from TLR. At this point, the discussions from the people who visit this forum aren't any better than they would be in TLR.

A number of threads can be boiled down to "fukk cacs" and a hundred mjpls postings. Nothing new gets said,
People, arent posting organizations or saying "hey, lets do this" unless its happening in PMs.

Again, the question is do people want discussion or do they want numbers? And no having a thread do pages on pages because of name calling, without any real discussion of the points of disagreement, is not "discussing the issues."

There is no need for the Root anymore, people want daps more than anything now. The thread on Kanye shouldn't be here at all. It is posters like that fagget who destroyed it. I agree, that is what happens in TLR threads, but at least important threads sometimes do numbers and get featured. The discussions in The Root these days aren't really much better than TLR and I'm not aware of anyone here organizing anything, so I think that if more people see them there is a greater chance of getting useful replies even if you have to skip over more crap posting. Look at the last few posts, this thread basically turned into a TLR thread.

I was thinking this the other day. It started off with a spark but it's pretty much a ghost town as of late. I've seen plenty of important threads that should have been featured get ignored in here.

I realize that you initially posted this thread in TLR, but TLR is inappropriate for many of the topics posted on The Root. TLR is better for racial-themed dating posts or a major news story like the Chicago Trump rally. I find many of TLR's thread titles to be filthy and disturbing. I only go in TLR if I linked a featured story from the home page. When the staff started throwing TLR stories in The Root last year, I complained and stopped coming to The Root. Since the moderators never participated, I assumed that The Root was only created as a new Race Track and garbage bin for threads people didn't want in TLR.

The serious black-themed issues can go in Higher Learning. However, HL also has its problems with threads getting buried due to two or three posters abusing their thread making privileges and of course now the presidential election has completely taken over the forum.

I think The Root should stay for those who want it, but I won't be an active participant.
