I read ,"the rise of the governor" last year and I thought it was good. Never had the chance to read the other one though.

Rise of the Governer dropped first.

I think you should read these first and then move on to compendium seein as these tie in to woodbury and that part of the plot. Compendium happens after the prison piff happens.
