that shyt be expensive...
But Im working long hours the rest of the month so I can either spend my money on the maschine, maybe some monitors, or be a responsible adult and save my money :jbhmm:

I like the idea of being able to navigate your library and mix on hardware, and my maschine has some worn ass pads anyway...

They beefed up the drum collection too, but am I gonna have to pay extra for quality kits? How many of the stock ones are relevant to old school hip hop?

Also, how intuitive are the drum design programs?

Any other features that would make it worthwhile?

Right now I doubt Imma spend my money

Can you replace the pads? Do all kits work with any maschine or is it limited?

Nah they got some kits that only work with the maschine 2.

There are ways to get them cleaned. Ive had my maschine for about 6 years though, so idk if that shyt would work. My pads are extremely insensitive right now :damn:For a while I was worried I wouldnt be able to make beats

Weird, i know that pads on mpc's can get worn and you can buy replacement rubber pads, or sometimes its the sensor sheet that goes under the rubber pads that can be replaced. I'd assume the maschine has the same type of fixes but who knows. Nowadays they try to build things to where if they break you just gotta replace especially if they are out of warranty or a new model has dropped. That's kind of sketchy that the new packs only work with the new maschines but i reckon its the same with mpcs as there are different akai programs built for certain models but for the most part you can always use wavs.....

I did some quick googles on differences between 1 and 2 and there isn't really a hook that jumps out or a feature between 1 and 2 that would make it damn near a must have, for instance the mpc 2000xl had auto chop whereas the mpc 2000 didn't it was worth a cop for a lot of users just based on that, considering the resell value and what not often a user could break even or get their monies worth.

if you can sell your old maschine and get $100 or $200 maybe the bite wouldnt be that bad, unless you are a collector of equipment like people who have an mpc 1000, 2500, 2000 and an xl just for keepsakes....they get you on the sound packs and what not but as a producer just keep producing the only limits are the ones you set yourself, there isnt a sound package out there thats really going to stop you or limit you

Damn man, I appreciate the advice :salute:

For me the most notable feature would be the software... all kinds of synthesizers, including a vintage fender rhodes vst, and supposedly cutting edge drum synths.

Huge collection of drum kits too, but Im not hurting in that field.

I need that vintage fender though :shaq:

Probably end up getting kontakt and some new monitors

Nah u can't replace Maschine pads....3 of my pads hardly work after spilling liqs on it

You sure breh? I had to look into it because I figure if things are under warranty theres a good chance they are actually getting fixed and often refurbished if there is someone at a service center is fixing it, there is a good chance someone can do it at home.

Maschine's bare circuits! (or how to clean it) | NI Support Forum

Native Instruments NI Maschine MK1 MK2 - Spare Parts

a replacement sensor sheet is $39. and replacement rubber pads are $25- $30

Ive been into too many mpc's (you get comfortable after a while) it's not too difficult, as long as you take your time and handle it delicately rather than going in all crazy and in a hurry then you should be fine.

the mk2's pads are better they are more responsive.

If you can sell the old one and cop a used mk2 then I would say go for it. But I wouldn't cop anything new right now.

NI just seems like they are about to drop something new real soon (this fall)

also around christmas time they usually bulk sell the expansions, some of them are pretty decent(not at $50 each though)

I copped the 9 for 99 last year which I though was fair.

lots of new samples and sounds in there. Great for building a library for sure.

the stock sounds are OK, but you have to know how to EQ them and layer them to get anything decent out of them.
However wat you get with the included Komplete is definitely worth buying

Massive is probably the best synth in the world hands down. and with Maschine you get it free

Sorry for the late reply didn't see it but yea you could def do it, it's really not as scary on the inside as it seems, if seeing wires and circuit boards scare you then don't but it's really not deep
