He is the greatest mixed martial artist to have lived. That being said MMA is just now beginning to get the sort of mainstream (ESPN/FOX) coverage that allows him to be up there. I also think him not being American could hurt him.

the sport is too young to make such a determination... yea, he's the GOAT MMA fighter of all time right now, but dudes like George Mikan and Otto Graham dominated and transcended their respective sports in its early stages as well and now in retrospect, no one considers them among the best to ever play their sport

we gotta give it a little time and revisit this question a decade from now after MMA evolves and develops even further

I know Bruce Lee was a real fighter, but you are comparing word of mouth of how guy did in street fights on the streets of San Fran/Hong Kong vs 3 fighters whose fights are on record... While his exibitions/demonstrations were impressive... None of us have any proof of how dominate Bruce was in hand to hand combat...
