Is playing ball full-court good high intensity cardio?

It's really not high intensity similar to what people would describe as HIIT

Depends on how hard duke is balling.

I'd say depending on the intensity, duration, and individuals; basketball can easily be considered a high intensity alternative to running on a treadmill or track...

You obviously can't maintain a traditional HIIT pace. You'll rarely be working at max effort for 30 seconds and you'll be at "rest" for decently long stretches.

But, just as a cardio alternative it's fine.

Don't disagree but one can easily fool themselves into thinking they are reaching that level on a basketball court.

The structure of HIIT with ropes , treadmills, bikes, etc is a little harder fool yourself on.

Actually I am off base, the answer to the question as posed is generally yes.

Yeah, sometimes you just gotta sprint down court after a made basket or be the first niggga back on defense like you're about to start goal tending. Nigggas gon look at you like :dahell: when you're sprinting down court to get back on defense.

:dead: @ the thought of someone hitting you with a pass on a fastbreak when you're just looking to get a sprint in.

It Depends on how long would you be playing for.

Short burst of sprints (even 5-10 seconds) over 60 minutes is a heck of a workout.

If you're runnin with a good squad, you can get a helluva workout running 5-6 games straight.

My homie from high school was a 300+ pound lineman. We've been hoopin a few times a week for a while now and dude's in the low 200's now.

I'd much rather do this than jump rope or do sprints :scusthov:
Depends.
I've seen bone heads play full-court games where they are playing with 40% intensity. :camby:
You can play 100% intensity half-court.
