I wouldn't phrase it that way. Technically he has every right to stay put. He's being asked to resign for the good of the party.

Trump simply refused to honor the results of an election.

No there's a difference between losing an election and attempting to stay in office and winning an election and attempting to get relected.

I agree that there's no comparison w/ attempting to overthrow a gov't

...But, he is (currently) following the same path as Ginsburg, Feinsteinn et al where their inflated egos (and senility) are a contributing factor to them doing a disservice to the democracy.

He also is starting to get a little more sus w/ his comments. Not nearly to the degree of Trump but as of late, quite a few of his lines get a side-eye. Things like:
  • He/his campaign has started framing allies asking him to step down (ie: George Clooney, Pod Save America, etc) as 'elites' to dismiss their critiques
  • Telling people not trust polls when they say he's losing. Just generally ignoring data and going off 'vibes' on whether to run again.
  • Framing the Democratic primary as a the public choosing him, when he actually ran pretty much unopposed and all real competition stood aside.
  • Doing the Trump rhetoric trick where he assumes he's right and lumps his audience together as being wrong or knowing he's right: "All of you will agree that..." or "Everyone, including you guys really know that..." or "No one in this room thought that..."
  • There's a general undertone of "Don't believe your lying eyes" regarding the debate.
Again, none of this is to the level of Trump, but if this were a Democratic primary, all of these actions would be sus AF. The current tactics to hold onto power are not what I want in a leader
