Is Marijuana really a gateway drug?

I think it is and at the same time, not necessarily. There are good arguments for it on both sides.

90% of fiends, junkies, drug addicts will tell you that they started by smoking weed at 1st then their drug use escalated and started to try other drugs.

At the same time, there is a lot of people that smoke marijuana that don't do other drugs. They are happy just smoking bud and don't go on to become junkies.

I've also seen it with people throughout my life. I've seen people go from weed to coke and heroin and I've seen people that just smoke weed and don't do other drugs.

What are ur thoughts?

I really don't see the point in trying any drugs at all...including alcohol.

Yeah I know what u mean but that doasen't really have much to do with the alcohol itself. More like the situation ur in and who ur hanging out with.

I know what u mean cause I did coke once a long long time ago now and I was drunk when I took it.

Some people come into contact with other drugs when they use weed and have to cop illegally. That puts you in contact with people that sell other drugs too so a lot of people go on to start doing other drugs, out of curiosity maybe, who knows?

But its different with each person. For some people it makes them want to do other drugs then some are satisfied with just weed.

People smoke to get high, so obviously you'll be interested if something else offers a greater high.

I smoke weed from time to time and yeah it did make me curious about coke, but I'm comfortable enough with just weed that I'm not tempted enough to go out of my way to put my nose to work....or am I?

No. It's not.
For people who gravitate towards the loser lifestyle or can easily succumb to peer pressure, then it may seem like marijuana was a gateway drug. But in reality, those same persons would have tried cocaine, heroin, LSD, etc. anyway even if they never used marijuana.

nah it is a gateway drug in that sense but because its illegal.. you'll talk to the same guy with the bud who also has molly, pills, coke, etc and might try some shyt you wouldnt have if not exposed to it and just copping bud from a store

Totally agree with this. And this is the argument that a lot of people make when talking about making weed legal. I definitely agree.

Its like booze being legal. When u go to the supermarket or the liquor store to buy whatever u wanna drink u don't have the clerk offering you all kinds of other, illegal sh!t.

Alcohol is more gateway, it impares judgement and puts you in that zone. Weed might just have you chilling or hungry.

I believe it is, but I think recreational drugs not really hard drugs. I smoke a lot of weed and then I've tried other "non habit forming" drugs like shrooms, acid, extasy/molly and salvia cuz I'm interested in hallucinogens. But I've never been interested in coke or heroin and I've been offered both. I think smoking weeds lowers your inhibitions towards other drugs because you feel less scared than say, someone whose never done any type of drugs. But at the same time, there's no way I'd try something like coke/crack, heroin, meth etc. The effects of even one time use can be devastating.
