Games played the last 3 years for Morant...

57, 61 and 9.

Let's be optimistic and say he plays in 10 of the 12 games Memphis has left...that would put him at 53 games played this season.

In the physical/athletic prime of his career Morant is missing an average of 25+ games...even if we take out last season's disaster. For a "star" player his minutes have been babied this season...around 30 a game...and yet he's probably going to miss 30+ games.

With all the crazy dunks and highlight plays...does he really move the needle? Is he a franchise cornerstone you build everything around...even if he's put all the off the court shyt behind him?

And every time we seen him in playoffs he got injured :francis:

He not a superstar. He ain't even been the best player in Memphis this season when he was out there. JJJ been arguably All NBA. It's crazy Ja and Zion was 1 and 2 in the same draft cause they in the same boat trajectory wise, missin games and not livin up to hype just different specifics for it.

Ja we seen in playoffs at least but that cause Grizzlies been a great team and well coached unlike Pelicans I remember they had a crazy record when he was out one season they barely lost games. Just checked they was 20-5 without him in 2022 :mjtf: 15-11 this season

There's really a penalty to your body in playing the game the way Ja does. He even commented on it himself this year. His per 36 lines up with his career highs, but it's clear he's being protected from himself.

He's still a great player and in my eyes still a top 3 point guard in the league when he's actually on the court, but yeah you can't throw your body around the way he does for 35+ mins a game 82 games a year and not expect to break down.

I think the perception surrounding his character has hurt his “superstar” status more than his actual play on the court, especially among certain fans.

I disagree; I still think he's a superstar and one of the elite PGs in the game, but off-the-court issues have tanked his perception, and now there are a lot of fans who suddenly don't like him anymore or think he's mid.

I mean just three seasons ago the Grizzlies were the #2 seed in the West for back-to-back seasons, considered to be contenders, until last year due to his suspension and injuries, Memphis fell into the lottery but now with him back this season they've been hovering around that 2-5 seed for much of the season, but then Ja got injured again and now fans aren't buying his greatness.

As the #2 pick, he's still having a better career than Zion, another guy people saw as the next “face” of the NBA and the greatest #1 pick since Bron. Zion might be role player status in a few more years with the way his career has panned out. Ja, despite his issues, is still on pace to have a successful career in the NBA, when it's all said and done.
