We've seen mainstream rock gasp it's last breath at the end of the 2000s with Staind, Daughtery and Fall Out Boy registering their last major radio singles (okay Fall Out Boy had one more but you get my point).
Is Indie Rock basically over now too?
Indie Rock was a strong underground movement in the 70s and 80s but then Radiohead took the genre to a new stratosphere in the 90s.
It continued to the point where Pitchfork consturcted their whole business around promoting the latest newest hip Indie Rock darling.
But now who is left? Is any one really checking for that Vampire Weekend album that dropped this summer? Arcade Fire is probably the biggest indie band. Anyone hyped for their album which just dropped?
Maybe the buzz is still there and I am just in different circles or have outgrown it but I am the only one who feels like this movement is on its last legs?
