Is Austin vs Taker one of the most disappointing feuds ever?

These guys had 10+ matches against each other in their careers, but can you really point to a single good/standout match they had looking back?

Yeah their matches always felt off.

The build to the Summerslam 98 watch was GOAT...and the match itself was pretty good but not on the level of some of Austin's other ppv matches around this time.

Taker was hurting pretty bad throughout 98 and 99. If you watch him around that time he is moving terribly. That's why he took the break to get surgery and came back as Biker Taker.

I feel like that was a big reason their matches never hit right.

Austin was concussed early in the match, leading Taker to have to call it till shortly before the end. The match was dope even with that

Truly the Phenom :wow:

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I was so tired of this feud by the end of 1998.
So of course it was reignited in the summer of 99...
And then once again in the spring/summer of 2001...
And then it came back for one final "hurrah" in the spring of 02.

The only year we were spared of this feud was in 2000 and that's because Austin was out with the neck fusion and Taker was out due to multiple injuries. I guess technically you can say that they even had a match in 00 since they were apart of the 6 man HIAC match.

I remember Austin talking about him being concussed early in that ‘98 match. I’d have to rewatch again, but I just remember that match being very chaotic (in a good way) so I really couldn’t tell.

No, Their matches were always good at minimum. SS 98 & Fully Loaded 99 were outstanding spectacles, and the feud in 01 was fun and didn't drag like feuds do now..
