Over the past four years I've been noticing a lot of people have been giving Iverson his flowers. Which is nice to see since a lot of young Generation Z brehs be slandering Iverson and his contributions to the game.

I swear back in the day Iverson was like the damn President in my elementary school days and in the urban areas. Everyone wanted to be like Iverson. I guess it's debatable if AI was the face of the league in the early 2000's, but if you were in the right circles back then he was in my opinion.

Dude was like David going up against Goliaths every night. His heart, swag, and unabashed acceptance of himself and where he came from gave him an authenticity never before seen in professional sports (save for perhaps Muhammad Ali)

He was equally adored by women and respected by men. The dress code implementation made him out to be a rebel which young people love. He was talented as hell but also a hard worker on the court. He was simply put, easy to root for.

When A.I. won that game 1 against the Lakers, I don't think I've ever loved a player more than in that moment. We all knew he had no chance, but that game personified his whole career.

Vick was beloved but didn’t have the “rebel” angle to him that A.I. did which made him cooler. Vick went straight from hero to villain (to white folks) and they tore him down. A.I. was heavily criticized but NEVER villainized.

Lebron James is the most influential figure to ever 100% MASTER and MAXIMIZE free agency. If nothing else he deserves to be in the top 3 just based on that. Modern day player empowerment begins with him.
