Is a lion,tiger, or bear born a predator?

or does it learn how to be a predator?

I ask this question because, today I saw a real interesting article on tumblr about an adult lion, tiger and bear that have been raised together since they were babies playing around like good ole pals.

Their name is Balu, Leo, and, of course, Shere Khan. Interspecies friendship between the three deadly predators started when all of them were two months old. Previously, they lived with drug lords, as a symbol of power and social status. Then, during a police raid, they confiscated and placed in a zoo. Eight years have passed, a chorus of merry trio live in a shelter for animals of Locust Grove (USA, Georgia) and behaves like brothers. Eat, play and sleep together in the general house.

Yes they are born instinctual predators. But they can be socialized from an early age. Those three were socialized to see each other as packmates, not food or threats.

Throw a single piece of meat in the cage with those beasts and see how long it'll be before those "brothers" kill each other over it.

Of course they're natural predators. The story is irrelevant. Neither a lion, tiger, nor bear would prey upon a bear, tiger, or lion.

But that's soooo cute though. You can socialize an animal into anything. I seen pictures of baby piglets put into little tiger stripe jumpers by their keepers and mama tiger nursing them cause she found them and adopted them awwwwww

Those animals, especially the Tiger, are great examples of the beauty and complexity of nature.

The Tiger is programmed, built, designed, to do one thing only, and that one thing is KILL. It's entire existence is to thin the herds of fauna in jungles, a difficult job and one only the Tiger can do efficiently. Beautiful killing machine.
