How'd you do?
Passed Pentest but don’t even bother, they don’t even recognize it

Most people don’t even know what it is.. just “Security +” is literally all they care about..

Better off either straight up getting CASP if you go higher than Sec+ or CCNA. I would say CISSP but thats more bullshyt to go thrpugh than CASP and much more expensive as well

Most these people just be saying the most common certs they heard someone else say. Some dumb chick literally told me they turned me down because my CySA doesn’t have/deal with networking as much as Sec+ does…:mjlol:

Huh?

Cyber is a lot of things. Pentest and CEH basically just do the same shyt as a Sec+… which is just give you a broad understanding of pentesting but nothing too difficult and specific.. Comptia just likes to word their tests funny and give trick answers.

But as far as difficulty goes, Pentest is difficult af compared to Sec+. So the fact she even told me that had me like :mjlol:

Especially when she was telling me about the role. She was like “yeah, they do a technical interview, so they want you to know the OSI model and a few networking ports/protocols… don’t worry, if you get the interview we’ll help you prep for the interview questions”…

So she proceeds to find a list someone else gave them to with the answers to some of the questions they asked him..

She decides to quiz me (btw, I’m taking my lunch/vape break) and I’m getting everything right off the dome. Like because I don’t have Sec+ Or CCNA, I don’t know shyt about networkng???

I’ve taken multiple CCNA classes and even instructed one in the military.. they offered me a position to drop my billet and literally teach at the school house of the C-school I went to (and I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT!!!!).. I just never felt the need to test especially if I’m already in the role and they not paying for it. I don’t mind it though, CCNA opens a lot of doors but chill. I got experience in that which is one reason I even went cyber route

Security is something I am looking into as I am looking to getaway from the client-facing roles. Not a network head at all so looking for more the s/w side and not the port, wifi, etc side of things

You’ll still have clients just not as much.

We still call the people we work for “customers” but usually I don’t deal with them, just my team…

BUT, you’re right in a way. What I do now is just basically hop on Administrators asses when it comes to patching their shyt and being compliant but it sucks.. never seen so many excel sheets and babying people in my life… sometimes they can’t even do shyt about it if a fix isn’t out, or if they only got an allotted time to update shyt and it be hundreds of devices at a time

It’s not a bad field though.. i just can’t stand most recruiters and these dinosaurs that are over shyt

Not on call at all

But It’s some bullshyt where I wake up at 3 am to sit in traffic to go look at spreadsheets all day.

I’m grateful but this isn’t what I want to do for the long haul.

And I don’t mind being on call if it’s shyt I can deal with remotely. But I’m not on call to go and reset your switch/router/server or because your printer not connecting to the wifi anymore

the CISA exam looks like something more up my alley and experience and no that Comprtia+ though I think it's standard the way A+ used to be back in the day
