Screenwriter, poet, playwright, and educator Chinaka Hodge has been hired to serve as head writer on Marvel Studios’ “Ironheart”.
The series will star Dominique Thorne as Marvel character Riri Williams, a 15-year-old MIT student and genius inventor who reverse engineers Iron Man’s armor in order to create an advanced suit of armor of her own.
First announced as in development during Disney’s investor day presentation in December, nothing much new has happened since then regarding the project.
Hodge has worked on TNT’s “Snowpiercer” and Apple’s “Amazing Stories”. She is also a founding member of the hip hop collective The Getback along with Daveed Diggs and others.
The series is one of eleven announced for the streamer following the two that already aired, “WandaVision” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”; the upcoming “Loki” and “What If”; the finishing up filming “Ms. Marvel” and “Hawkeye,” the just starting filming “She-Hulk” and “Moon Knight,” and the in-development “Secret Invasion” and an untitled Wakanda series.
