Kanye West Is Better at His Job Than I Am at Mine (But I

its a long read, and kanye is only incidental to the story. but ultimately Kiese Leymon calls out how despite kanye is praised in certain quarters as being above average when it comes to his consciousness etc, he is as bad as everyone else in his making money off of humiliating and trashing black womens name.

i won't lie, i agree with his conclusion, at the same time, dude is one of those male feminists and i don't know if i can c/s such a person who is basically a intellectual version of a simp. still a good read. I think we can all agree kanye is a joke now in his public persona.

Eh it was alright, well written but kinda leaves me with "Alright nikka so when is your point coming?"

And I'm not sure why he's saying black women, kanye has the same respect or lack of respect in his MUSIC for all types of women.
His opinions about Kanye's opinions on women was probably provoked by him calling Kim Kardashian his perfect bytch. But I don't know why Kanye should criticized for not being a feminist for black women.

White people call him a racist, black simps say that he's not a feminist for black women, black people say that he's a white fakkit.

Idk really.
Looking at his music like every rapper he has misogynist lyrics, so yeah he can be criticized for that.
But a lot of his and other rappers opinions are based on events that took place in their lives.

i agree with that. i think black feminists are too quick to always assume its black women these rappers are talking about. maybe back in the day, but since around 2000, these chick s been multi racial.

Kanye West is better than those jokers, though.

Wrong. Kanye is talented but he's never proven thats he's all that smart or insightful. He's driven by fame. And a part of fame is treating women like his accessories...

Plus he's half a faq. And the only thing holding the other half back is how he talks about using women. :wrist:

I also have no idea why his convo with an 80 year old man in Missisppi led to this discussion about Kanye and misogyny. Could've left that out.

I joined Les outside in his Runaway spot. No matter the time of day or night, Les was likely to clutch his yellow folding chair, and lumber out to the right side of Grandma's porch. Really, unless he was drunk, Les's Runaway spot was the only place my Grandma allowed him to do the 2.5 things he'd mastered in 83 years on earth: 1) sipping that Crown Royal Black, and 2.5) balancing a dangling Newport on his bottom lip while telling the loudest lies you've ever heard in your life.

:heh:

The writer, Kiese Laymon, is a dude though guys.

That's pretty evident when you read it.

good writing but my eyes glazed over midway when he started talking about how he as a writer wants to talk about misogyny but he's actually a misogynist himself and uses this talk as a shield blah blah

We know Kanye is a bit shallow and has regressed in terms of commentary from the Katrina era... that includes when it comes to women

I'll read the article later.

On a sidenote, I always find it odd that people are suprised by Ye's obsession with fame and vanity and sh!t. lol Like this is new for him. Were we listening to the same Kanye in the beginning? Fam ALWAYS been arrogant, talked about money, pu$$y, cars, clothes - even before his first album. He threw in jewels here and there, but he Chuck D he was not. lol He got more doe now and aint on songs with Kweli no more, now its 2Chainz, but he's the same ol dude, its just magnified. lol

Within the context of a Dark Fantasy the misogyny, cars, bling etc. doesn't seem so bad. He puts it in a frame work.

But he carried on into WTT and it seems vacuous at this point. No thought behind it. Addiction, is a song about getting p*ssy and money. But it's done with a lot more thought than his newer stuff. Heck, even Gold Digger has a strong concept. He's just dumbing it down to the lowest denominator these days...

He does songs with Pusha-T, signed Mos Def, Common and Q-tip, had Raekwon and Rza on his last album.

I think he makes music with whoever he considers dope, no matter what type of MC you are.

But I C/S that Kanye has always loved the shyt he has now, the only difference is that he's doing it on another level today cause he can afford it.

Besides that, he's a wise dude. You can hear it when he talks in interviews, he's very creative and knowledgeable in the fields he speaks about. He's not a Lupe who will speak out of his ass about shyt he knows no more than what he saw on last nights CNN report.
