I'm a mac guy about to convert to pc and do some custom building. I've always just bought hardware that all came intact, but it's been awhile since I've dabbed in processors. the last time I did was in the mid 00s back when dual processors were the business. Now Im seeing all these 2nd and 3rd generation intels and Im like 
how much of a difference is an i5 DUAL processor 3.0ghz and i7 QUAD processor 2.4ghz? the quad only has 2.4 but it's a quad, and the dual has 3.0...but it's a dual. wtf.
is there really a big different between.....
Core i5-3210M dual nuclear power plant thread frequency: 2.5GHz Max Turbo: 3.1GHz
and
Core i7-2720QM quad-core the eight threads frequency: 2.2GHz maximum Turbo frequency: 3.3GHz
and how are they different.
