Increasing Traffic

How would I go about spreading the word about a website? I'm not trying to spam or irritate people. If no one sees my site, does it matter that it's a good idea?

I have original content. I make 3-4 posts a day. Do I need to tag it better? Are meta tags something that matter? I did all the seo stuff on hostgator (my host).
