Me personally

1. Flow
2. Lyrics
3. Subject matter
4. Rhyme scheme

Truthfully IMO, it can be a simple ass Dr Seuss rhyme but if those words poignant and you really flowin and it’s hard I probably won’t care :yeshrug:

As much as I love dope lyrics, I’m always going flow and beat selection first. You can be the dopest lyricist but if those two aren’t on point then will be a hard listen for me. I’d then go lyrics then rhyme scheme. I don’t too much care about subject matter since that usually the last thing my ear hears. Of course there is always nuances to all that. A lot of other factors like vocal tone, personality and uniqueness play a heavy part for me.

Super low.

A great song is supposed to capture you in some way, usually via emotion/feelings and ish like that, whether happy/sad/whatever…you don’t need multis for that.

Royce is a robot with the multis…so much so the shyt is corny now, imo of course…but “Cocaine” is probably his best song ever. You just can feel that ish, nothing to do with the patterns, if he was doing multis on there I never even noticed

Let's be honest.

Beat is the main thing.

I can agree that flow can overshadow lyrics.

I guess actual "rhyme scheme" is last here. It takes you a minute to figure out what the rhyme scheme even is, as compared with the other factors.

Rhyme scheme and flow is where the pure artistic value in rap resides.
