In the 2020s, would you still be interested in being a YouTube celebrity? Do the pros outweigh the cons?

I'm assuming you mean like one of those famous influencers like Pewdiepie and MrBeast
Pros
  • Fangirls
  • Money
  • Fangirls
  • If you have enough influence you could make any niche thing you feel isn't popular enough relevant
  • Fangirls
  • You'll get to do business with other internet "celebrities" and gain their connections
Cons
  • People will always be after your money and/or popularity
  • Depending on how big you are your business becomes everybody else's business
  • You have to watch what you say and do or you'll be cancelled
  • Ugly fangirls

There are more pros but the cons are kind of big and depending on how hard you screw up they could ruin your life. I'd still do it.

The biggest con you are missing:
  • Impermanence
These guys/gals have the longevity of a RB with bad knee's.

So unless you were one of the OG's in your field (pewdiepie), or unless you can make transtition to comedy/acting/modeling (good luck), these guys/gals typically have maybe 3 good years at best.

Staying relevant is hard
Only so many pranks you can do or things you can think off.

Mr beast is opening restaurants etc expanding etc.

That's a good thing - to me at least. You can enjoy your pros while you can, you plan for the future, and once irrelevancy hits you can retire.

Being any kind of "celebrity" is completely unappealing to me at this point

Money is one thing, and clout can be good but being constantly scrutinized and think about how every little thing you say or do reflects your "brand" sounds stressful and tiresome

Damn, you chose like the 2 most famous ones. I wasn't necessarily thinking about that level, but I guess I meant others as well that only have like 5000 followers at the moment.

I mean, you gotta believe that there are Junior High School and High School students who's career aspirations are "become a YouTube Star". Maybe 'cause I'm older now, but it's been "exposed" as not being all it's cracked up to be.

The same thing kind of goes with wanting to be a rapper. In the way that court systems are able to use your lyrics against you now, I mean...that's a huge red flag. I don't know, man...

It depends on what I was "famous" for. Not doing any daily vlogs or day in the life type videos. I'd do video game live streaming or something like that. I want my personal life to stay private. If that was the case then yea I'd do it
