Here you have Finn who isn’t a Jedi and only used a lightsaber one other time, being able to go toe to toe vs someone who was trained by a Jedi Master and a Sith Lord.

Then there’s Rey who beats someone trained by a Jedi Master and Sith Lord, with no training at all.

The only people who can even wield lightsabers are supposed to be Jedi or Sith. This scene basically says anybody can wield a lightsaber with no problems.

And maybe Boyega knew this and thought he was going to actually get to be a Jedi :mjlol:

He got to wield it twice in one movie and never came near one again.

The Last Jedi was a very purposeful movie in subverting all audience expectations. Maybe they did plan to have dude be a Jedi eventually but the Last Jedi 86ed all of that.
Whatever, the latest trilogy was overall received poorly and it's going to take a lot of work to bring it back. I always thought the franchise/story was overrated anyway.

To be fair, Disney had JUST declared the old books non-canon, and I believe the lightsaber rule was only in said books. Grievous was also not a force user that used lightsabers.

I would say that it did but at the time we just laughed and said Kylo is a bytch ass nikka, but we still had hope for the sequel and trilogy. TLJ was still the movie that made us realize that this was irredeemable trash.

I'm cool with the non cannon route, but don't turn around and include the skywalker family. And don't use elements from the cannon. You can't pick and choose shyt, just to fit your movie :mjpls:
