While many hardcore gamers are now waiting for the next-generation systens from Sony and Microsoft, IDC noted that Nintendo will still "find an audience" with Wii U, reaching global bundle shipments of 50 million by year-end 2016.

Wii is irrelevant to this. Apples and oranges different demographic etc.

Also the focus on sales is the last resort for typical Xbox/PS3 discussions as everything else pertaining them always tides in favor of the Playstation.

All 3 consoles, whether people like it or not, are 7th generation. Wii is just as relevant to this discussion as 360 and PS3. What demographics they cater to has nothing to do with anything.

Yup.

Wii won. Sony second and MS 3rd. PS3 was always going to overtake the 360 eventually due to worldwide support and sales. Didn't think it would happen this year though. Thought it would be when the 720 launched

That was mostly due to the very hot start it had.

Console sales are down across the board and there is no guarantee that the 720 or PS4 will even move 70 million next gen...way down compared to what sony was doing with the PSone and PS2

Thank you Sony for creating game varieties instead of 50 first person shooters and gears of war. You deserve it. Now rescue us from the same rehashed crap that the 360 is doing by wining with the ps4.

doesn't matter to Nintendo, you bought one that's all that matters...Wii crushed the buildings like how they used to back in the day. Why? because they have a dedication to making things FUN...not edgy, or powered by the "cryunrealhavockcrunk" engine....they just makes fun fukking games....

neither Sony nor Microsoft can figure out that formula yet...but then again Nintendo is what 25 almost 30 years in the game?
