Cats love to overrate Gallo, Wilson & Mosgov's wack ass. Knicks upgraded with Tyson Chandler, JR Smith & Shump.
I always say that people overrate the cost of that trade. That Melo trade wasn't the issue. It's that they wasted the amnesty on Billups' expiring contract instead of cutting Stoudamire with it.

Random Melo Trade tidbit: Our own Brock Aller was the one who pushed to get Mozgov thrown in, and it was purely because of Mozgov's contract structure. He eventually turned Mozgov into 2 protected first round picks and one or two second round picks.

It was the combination that fukked them. If they amnesty STAT they could have had Melo, Tyson Chandler, JR SMitch, and CP3 which not a big three could have made some noise.

You can’t confirm talent but some good players got sent out in that trade and one or two of Felton, Mozgov, Gallo, or Wilson Chandler would have been some of the best starters next to Melo.

They'd be better than a lot of the trash help Melo got, but I don't think any pairing from that four would have turned the Knicks into contenders. They needed the cap space from Stat's contract to bring in a true difference maker like a prime CP3. I think Paul/Melo/Chandler would have been REALLY tough; Felton/Melo/Gallo/Chandler is good but it's not overcoming the Heatles.
