Director Troy Duffy is reuniting with Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery for a third
Boondock Saints film.
According to
Deadline, production is expected to begin in May, with Shaun Redikk, Yvette Yates Redikk and Don Carmody joining Duffy as producers. The script hails from Duffy and Flanery, though it's noted that Reedus provided heavy input.

Boondock III a reality."

The Boondock Saints was released in 1999 and centered on twin brothers Connor and Murphy MacManus (Flanery and Reedus), who decide to take on the criminal underworld of Boston after killing two mafiosos. Despite performing poorly with critics, it developed a cult following and fared well enough financially to secure a sequel 10 years later. Naturally, it wasn't long before yet another sequel was being floated around, but those plans seemed to fall apart soon after.

"I came here for something last week, or two weeks ago, and we had a meeting with Troy. I did an interview with like
Men's Health or something and the very last question they asked me was, 'So, is there going to be a
Boondock 3?' and I said -- I
said, quote me -- 'I don't know, but tonight I'm having a meeting with Sean and Troy to talk about it,' and it went viral,"
Reedus explained in October 2012. "'He says it's happening!' But I didn't say that. For the record, I did not say that. But I will say that it's
not happening. There will not be a part three. Creative differences, so to speak."

Reedus had a more hopeful outlook three years later, saying, "There's talk
of it right now. I know there's a
Variety article that came out. It's in talks, so everyone's got their fingers crossed. It's a lot of work to get a movie off the ground, and have everybody on the same page. There's talks of it. We're all hoping."
