A lonely woman (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), recently separated from her husband, visits a bewitching London department store in search of a dress that will transform her life. She's fitted with a perfectly flattering, artery-red gown--which, in time, will come to unleash a malevolent curse and unstoppable evil, threatening everyone who comes into its path.

If Blumhouse thinks your idea for a horror movie is too weird or artsy, just call A24. :russ:

Will see this. Been interested since the trailer dropped however long ago that was
It just came out on this side of the ocean. Kinda surprising we got it this soon considering we have to wait for piff like The Lighthouse until goddamn February because they want to take full advantage of the expected awards run.

Also a reminder that fans of Giallo horror need to check out Knife+Heart as soon as possible.

So this was not what I expected, lol. Not in a bad way just to make that clear, but this the other side of A24's marketing. Because while the movie definitely hits every note of a Giallo horror movie like they do in the marketing, it's also very much a very very British satire, with scenes that practically feel like a sketch show hitting themes like consumerism and company hierarchy.

The tonal shift between the two works for the better part but I can already predict that quite a number of people will find themselves completely lost watching this, while audiences who can easily switch gears and go with the flow of the movie will probably find tons of stuff to enjoy here. I most certainly did.
