Allah hasnt really dominated any other decade like he did with the 90's. The 80's had a sprinkle of Allah but that decade was dominated by the old fashined Christian God. Wether it was the Nation Of Islam, the 5%, The Nuwaubians or regular Islam, we have yet to see a decade promote Allah like with the 90's. Rakim Allah, Ice Cube, Brand Nubians, Nas, Wu Tang Clan, Da Lench Mob , Kam, Big Daddy Kane, Q Tip, Common, CNN and countless others. Minister Farrakhan was the Black leader of the decade in the 90's. Mike Tyson turned Muslim in the 90's. The late Afeni Shakur once spoke about how she would keep the lessons laminated to pass to those who had knowledge of self. T Rogers once said that he was confused as to how NYC started claiming Blood because he always pictured NYC as a "Five Percenter city." 9/11 kinda made Islam look more "radical" in Americas eyes and its no suprise that Hip Hop would soon follow.
Diddy (who had 'Allah U Akbar' chants in the intro to his first solo No Way Out), DMX and Kanye pushed Jesus (Who Prodigy went at hard body on the song Pearly Gates) while most rappers just acknowledged the Christian God in the new millinium. Allah was still around in the 2000's with the likes of Beans, Freeway and Mos Def but not as strong as the 90's to the point that Lord Jamars "5% album" was heavily slept on unlike his albums with Brand Nubians in the 90's. And Hip Hop in the 2010's has been playing with "the Occult of the Illuminati" more then any other religion, with Kendrick and Yeesus being the biggest promoters of Jesus even tho Allah is still in the midst courtesy rappers like Lupe and Stalley. Islams influence in Hip Hop is so far from what it once was in the 90's that when Jay Z started rocking the "Universal Flag" those in the entertainment media world called it Jay Z aligning himself with a cult while those not in the know, on social media, made sly remarks not knowing that the "Universal Flag" has always been a strong symbol in early Hip Hop. Kinda makes one wonder...Was the magic of Hip Hop in the 90's due to Allahs blessing??
