In 2024 why is the “2 minute warning” stoppage of time still a thing?

Apparently it was instituted because of the old timekeeping ways and how nobody really knew the amount of time left in the game (I’m assuming cuz there weren’t scoreboards with real time electronic clocks and things like that) ..so it let everyone know how much time was left

But why is it even necessary now :francis:

Just let the teams use their timeouts if necessary

It’s about money not sport breh. They’re more likely to add a five minute warning than they are to take away the two minute warning.

NFL games are now like an hour longer than MLB games.

When are y'all going to keep that same energy for these long, boring, low action football games?

And have you been to a live football game? It takes an hour just to get out of the parking lot.

Speed up these games and stop these time wasting shenanigans.

On top of the money aspect it builds drama. And if you changed it what would you call the 2 minute drill? :russ:
