to me its going to be inactive fighters...there's far too many of that going on this year...now usually if the top fighters dont fight then we at least get held down by second tier fighters or champs...and thats not happening either...thats a big problem

same line of thinking goes for not enough big fights...9 months in and only one big fight you can consider a FOTY...and its a very thin list for this year so far

bad judging is also going to be a thing in boxing..happens in good years in boxing; happens in bad years

PPVs to me haven't affected anything in boxing...if anything it highlights the issue of PPVs not being built up properly (or a contradiction from a certain outlet that I like to point out)...all the fights on PPV that have aired so far this year should have been regular or premium TV instead.. fury vs wilder 3 is the only PPV this year seems to have a card built where you can drop some coin cuz it makes sense

lack of governance over sanctioning bodies, they do as they will and that results in increasingly opportunistic organizations with billion belts and easy ways to dodge dangerous fights when two fighters who are not with the same promoter could meet

There are exceptions but largely they are there to please everyone so nobody is really forced to take the fights the public wants to see, we mostly only get to see them when it is too big to pass, if one of them doesn't seriously count with a fighter that's crossing over for a fight or if both fighters are with the same promotional outfit.
But there are too many times two or more fighters departed by their promotion and channels never fight each other or not in their prime cause there's too much on the line for both halves and they are not forced to make the fights either cause the abc organizations offer an easy way out.

Lack of big fights. Both Wilder/Fury 3 in July and Spence/Pac in August getting cancelled was just toooooooo big of a gap that couldn’t get refilled. There was nothing else in the summer that anyone was looking forward to. Rigo/Casimero was supposed to be the second side of a big meal, yet it was forced to be the steak.

Those were literally the 2 biggest fights of the year. Every casual I know was looking forward to both of those.

Had those happened, I don’t believe we would be having this discussion.

i voted for PPV. if these fighters were a daily presence on tv, that could solve a lot of problems. more activity, more light shined on judging, more momentum to make big fights

You are looking at it too shallow, look deeper. PPV actually means more TV time though….much much more.

Look at how many nationally televised specials each PBC on FOX PPV gets. At least 3 or 4 in prime weekend slots leading up to the PPV. Plus more advertising.

It’s the general lack of big fights.

id like to see the ratings on these specials. i think they are preaching to the choir who already are going to buy the event. i think boxing with decent named fighters needs to be on tv competing with other sports

All the ducking in boxing is just disgraceful. nikkas be waiting years for some evenly matched fights between top talents.

That's what UFC has always had over boxing. Matchmaking can only protect you for so long and nikkas get thrown into the shark tank early and stay there. nikkas dont get passes to duck threatning matchups for half damn near half a decade at a time

Need the big fights...Spence vs Manny not happening was a sword in the stomach..just horrible. No Crawford doing anything all year. No one wants to fight Andrade. Teo is hiding and taking trips..Fury is talking alot..Thurman refuses to sign a fight...Ennis can't find a contender...Fury vs Wilder pushed back..
