I'm Watching The Shield for The First Time. My only problem is the Black Characters.

It's a pretty good show, I just noticed the black characters have the same issues most shows from the 2000's outside of The Wire had.

The black characters have no real depth. I am on season 1 so I'll give it some time but I noticed black characters in 2000's shows don't even need names. They might as well be called
"Angry black man 1"
"Silly black gangster 2"
"Secret gay black character 1"

I forget her name off top, but the female detective is an absolute force as a character and actor. Anthony Anderon and Forrest Whittaker have very in depth roles too.

but yes, those shows existed in a place and time where things where changing, but it's not like now, where some of that would be unacceptable, for the most part.

Almost all the black characters get treated like shyt or portrayed as pieces of shyt. Show was pretty blatant with its biased takes. That included the latino characters too.
