Ok, these sound cool. I can't believe this dude is from the uk:mindblown:
He was not really "from" the UK though. Yes, technically he was born there, but he came to NY as a child and knew nothing about Britain. He was a New Yorker to the core.

Dumile was born in Hounslow, London, on July 13, 1971, the son of a Trinidadian mother and Zimbabwean father. According to Dumile, he was conceived in the United States, and happened to be born in London because his mother was visiting family. As a child, Dumile moved with his family to Long Island, New York; he grew up in Long Beach, New York. He said he had no memory of his London childhood and his parents had no affiliation with British culture.

He’s good but is the type of underground rap I outgrew once I turned like 17. MM...Food and Madvillainy are his best projects

Yeah, I find myself pretty much only going back to Operation Doomsday nowadays. I still love DOOM, but OD is the only album that feels like it has any kind of maturity to it.

Doom doesn't Rap like underground rappers tho.

His lyrics were very street and pop culture oriented not lyrical miracle
I wouldn’t really describe Doom as street but you can be street and underground like Roc Marci for example. Some of Doom’s references were street but most were obscure. His lo-fi sound and his niche fan base is mainly what makes him underground in my opinion

If u like Instrumentals, listen to the Special Herbs series by Doom..

U won't be disappointed. Confidentially, GFK used some of those beats.

Album wise, listen to

Operation: Doomsday and listen to the Nastradoomus Vol. 1 album where Doom took the Nastradamus acapellas and sprinkled em over his beats.

Everything from the kmd days to operation doomsday to mm food is great. Everything else was a money grab for the most part. For example that adult swim/dangermouse album is a hipster fav and imo his worst album at the time he ever did.

Stick with:

Both kmd albums
Operation doomsday
As King gheedorah - take me to your leader
As viktor vaughn - vaudeville villain
As madvillain - madvillainy
Mm food

Born like this as well

Those to me are his real projects. The rest are straight money grabs imo with lazy lyrics or shytty production ie dangerdoom and vik vaughn 2

It took me a while to really get into DOOM. I listened to a couple of his albums and even Madvillainy but they didnt quite connect with me. A little while later I decided to revisit his discography but before I did I ate an edible and got super faded. Everything after that started to make sense. shyt was fire. I guess i just had to get on the right "frequency"
