I'm sorry, but that new Rock movie "Snitch" isn't that great

I'm reading all the press about how it's his best performance yet and all this other stuff, and its got great reviews.....and for whatever reason my mom told me she wanted to see it, so we went to go see it earlier today.

The Rock, and he's my guy, but just doesn't come across as sincere in the role. His range of emotion just didnt do it. The delivery of the lines, the facial expressions....just not there for this type of role.

On top of that, they tried to make him appear like he was simply a regular sized man Making him wear 2 long sleeve shirts and a big coat in every scene to hide his frame....then he got beat up by these lil dudes, and was acting scared of everyone else. I was like This dude towered over EVERYONE in this movie both height and width.

And he didnt fight one person the ENTIRE film...and for an action film w/ dudes chasing him, it's like they went out of their way to make him appear and a non bad-ass.

If they wanted that role, they coulda got any regular sized man.

But hey, it wasn't just him, I didn't like the acting jobs of many of the characters in the movie. The son wasn't very believable. I thought Barry Pepper did a pretty good job, but all in all, the story didnt flow too well and the acting just wasn't very good to me.

I really wanted to like it though.

You guys wait until Ridley Scott's new movie THE COUNSELOR comes out. It's about the drug cartels and it real as shyt. The script was crazy. It has Fassbender, Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, and Javier Bardem.

He had giant posters up for 2 other new movies in the theater.

Seems like the typical movie that does not do anything really well, and only purpose is to entertain. I might be a movie snob, but I still enjoy these types of movies.

Yeah, I have a objection to snitches and people working down their sentences being glorified...like that's the thing to do, the kid would just get the safety valve on that bullshyt trafficking charge...And, this movie can't help but be typical Hollywood nonsense, with badly played cartel bosses and big rig drug shipments and shootouts on the freeway.

It's actually shameful how drug trafficking organizations are portrayed in film, it's like the way we did the Russians during the cold war. Cartoonish, over the top, hacky and hamfisted, it's embarrassing.

I expected more. I like The Rock, I think his best role yet has been in Gridiron Gang but he didn't fit right for this. Also, I felt this movie was a little too slow paced. Was ok though.

The Rock doesn't give an award winning performance, but he was MORE than capable. The last 30 minutes were pretty , but was invested til that point.

as far as this bizarre miscasting, im assuming there is some sort of favor owed to him or he is trying to quickly fulfill some quota to a studio so he can be free from a contract or something. some kind of behind the scenes shenanigans that have nothing to do with creative choices might be the issue
