Im not feeling the idea of celebrating The 4th of July

Don't get me wrong, i love the cookouts, all the gatherings that having the time off from work allows.. I partakes in all that Im not going to front.

Its just the premise behind that sh!t that always rubbed me the wrong way. Celebrate the 'independence' of a nation that was invaded and brutally stolen from its natural inhabitants? Independence from what? Wasnt it basically just thieving savages(settlers) breaking away from other thieving savages(the british/french). Thats what im supposed to celebrate

Never celebrated it always listened to Fredrick Douglas speech "the 4th of July to the slave" that day. Take it as a day off.
