I'm interested in making beats. What's the best program to use?

I rap, but I don't have a place to record right now so I want to learn the art of producing more. I have Reason 5 right now and I mess around with it once and a while but I really want to master producing. Should I be using a better program and if so which one?

And are there any videos you recommend I watch in order to learn the beginning steps of producing?

No one is going to tell you whats better. Your going to learn what you like and don't like. Simplest way to put it.

sampling is easy in fruity loops, I think it's worth learning and there are tons of free tutorials that make learning much easier.

id say get any software that looks good to you, i hear reason is good but that shyt looks ugly to me

loads of videos online on how to make beats but honestly your ears should be enough, pick up little ideas u hear in peoples music u really like and try something new

reason 5 is fine if you don't care to blow any doe

if you like samples though you either need to

1 - get recycle in addition or
2 - upgrade to 7.1
3 - learn how to sample with reason's nn19 or nnxt or both
