Like I said, I'm in the dealership getting my 2015 car serviced, and I went to the showroom and it's a damn ghost town. the sales people just walking around aimlessly or they in they offices. I don't see one person looking at any of the car inventory. hell, there's not even anyone outside looking at the used cars.

yet there are plenty of people sitting in the waiting room with me getting their cars serviced.

so I decide to look at the new/used cars, and the 2025 version of my car is 52K. a used 2023 version of my car is like $35K. which explains why no one is looking at the cars. at these prices combined with high interest rates, it's obvious why everyone is content with taking care of the car they already have.

:ucku: that car payment. :ucku: those interest rates. the term riding to the wheels falls off, and since I just bought 4 new tires like 6 months ago, those wheels shouldn't be falling off anytime soon.

I did sit in a few of the new cars, and that smell........:ohlawd: it was glorious.

It's the economy... plain and simple... no one buying these cars cause they too expensive and car companies will do anything to make a profit so...:manny:

they better get it thru their thick skulls that regular people ain't trying to buy 50K normal cars. the car I have now, I paid like 22K for when I bought it used 8 years ago. car payment was only $300 at the time.

$600 car payments 8 years later for a newer regular car is obscene IMO.

these dumb ass car companies need to realize that people want 20-25K cars. and ya'll wonder why BYD isn't available in the united states. they'd completely upend the existing car industry just off their pricing alone on comparable cars.

That's because there is no one to sell to. My girl's sister was doing sales for a dealership last summer, we went to pick her up a few times and the sales team was just chilling, she did it for 3 months before she quit. There was literally no one to sell to, no one on those call lists is trying to listen. No one was trying to sign up for a 60K car. On the phone all day doing cold calls, managers talking about writing people up for not hitting numbers
, beyond stupid.

I sold cars in 2008 in Bloomington, IL, and I was "walking around aimlessly" every day I came in. I'd get my coffee and watch from the window like :sas1:

I sold 3 cars my time there.

A Hyundai Sonata, Nissan Versa, and a Nissan Rogue.

I quit and went around the corner to make brake components at Flexitech, and got laid off months later because of whatever was going in 2008 with the market:mjlol:
