I'm convinced most Americans don't want a democracy or even know what it is for that matter

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
And you can tell by how this country votes. Most people reject anything that requires critical thinking or due diligence. Everything is based on emotions and feelings. Zero logic.

America is basically a corporation / "free" market institution that caters exclusively to wealthy individuals and corporations. Everything is set up in those two groups favor. The tax code. The healthcare system. Stock market. Real estate. Everything.

Even third world countries are corrupt, but this country literally got people thinking, its above it all. And the sad part is nothing will change anytime soon. Not in 10 years, not in 20 years, not in 30 years. The way of life, peoples priorities, and everything that goes on in this country is delusional toxicity.

Democracy is a process, it doesn’t mean equity and it never will. It does get closer to the idea simply because you take everyone’s position (given the provided options) into account. Theoretically that would get you balance within because you consider what everyone thinks.

How people vote doesn’t mean they don’t understand democracy, it just means they have poor political inclinations.

Also, the way the system of voting has been structured in this country, it makes it even more dysfunctional, even though it’s still a democracy.

Tbh, there are just a lot of flaws that existed for a while and now you just have people constantly exposing them, which is more of a reflect on the culture of Americans.

The Electoral College is undemocratic. You can get the most votes and still lose.

And a state like Idaho having the same amount of senators as a state like California is undemocratic.

And the fact that it's been that way for decades speaks to the fact that most Americans don't know what a democracy is.

This country has evolved beyond the constitution, yet this government his bound by traditions of the 1700 - 1800's.

Amerikkka was founded on hate and bigotry, white people have embraced it as a way of life :manny:

Was founded specifically for white, land owning males. Guess what? That group still rules the country and benefits most.

Legacy matters.

america has never been a democracy. it has always been an apartheid state serving as the headquarters of a global racial order that enriches europeans at the detriment of non-europeans - principally, black people.

I did say it was flawed.

Frankly, the reason why the electoral college was introduced made sense when it was but now, yes, it ruins the balance by making it more about winning just states instead of taking into account everyone’s opinion.

It would behoove this country to modernize its democratic practices however it doesn’t seem to interest any of the politicians genuinely on either side because they’d lose their power. That’s why you have the power grabs going on now, and not in the basic sense, the sense that they next person up intends to dismantle things to ensure confusion.

Formula: create two ideologies then sell them both a fantastic dream; convince both sides the other is taking away that dream. Let them fight eachother and profit.
