As a kid he was never like this

We didn’t talk much when I was a teen but started talking Back heavy again around covid

When I found out he was a trump supporter I really ain’t care that much
But it’s like every single day it’s getting worse. I remember him telling me at this point he’s voting red straight down the ballot

I think the breaking point for me was a few months ago. He kept telling me the black community has it backwards since democrats were the ones that owned slaves. I told him yea but they were conservative democrats. He conceded.
About 2 weeks later we end up on that subject again and this dude has the nerve to tell me it was LIBERALS who owned slaves and owning slaves was a liberal ideology

I’m ngl that single convo made me look at him a whole different way.

I guess this is a very real problem cause I've had to bush people for being Trump supporters in real life. I made it very clear I didn't support him before he ran...but after he won and I saw how much racist BS his administration was bringing to America...I felt no shame about cutting them off and telling them to go to hell.

I don't know how anybody could see Trump ans his supporters...the same ones at Charlottesville...the same ones who beat Deandre Harris bloody with 2 × 4s and ran into a crowd of counter-protestors with a car and killed Heather Heyer...the same ones committed mass shootings that killed innocent people...and want to be apart of that. And many casual MAGA/Righties compartmentalize supporting Neo-Fascism as something independent from supporting Trump...like they aren't the same thing.

People who may not be familar with politics, or are considered "low IQ voters" are easily able to get captured by right wing media. Because right wing media is really just fear mongering, disinformation, spin. They present themselves as credible news reporters. Therefore it's easy to just take their word because after all, they are the news and how could the news be lying to me? Then people like that tend to get deeper into the mix and going down conspiracy type rabbit holes.
