ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Georgia’s capital has been named the most educated city in the United States.

Forbes ranked Atlanta No. 1, citing that nearly 60% of residents have a bachelor’s degree and over 26% have graduate degrees.

Forbes notes that Atlanta is home to major colleges like Georgia Tech, Georgia State University and Emory University. Atlanta is also home to several HBCUs, including Morehouse, Spelman and Clark Atlanta.

“This recognition is a testament to our community’s hunger for education and commitment to learning,” the city said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

However, the study did note that Atlanta shows high racial disparities in attaining a bachelor’s degree. When subtracting the completion rate for students of all races from that of only white students, the result was about -22%.

Other cities that made the cut include Arlington, Virginia, St. Petersburg, Florida, and San Antonio, Texas, among others.
