I know I should probably post this in the appropriate forum, but I really need some quality feedback here....

Tryinta get my nephew some recording equipment for Christmas. Nothing fancy, just something where he can have a basic home studio and then can take that into the real studio to get it mastered.

What are the most essential basics he needs, besides a quality mic?
