who would it be. I'd go with Foster, Rice, or McCoy. Pick one...
Why would you take a RB over a QB like Rogers/Brady/Brees?
Elite RB's not in a committe are few and far between. Meanwhile you can get a decent value QB much later in a draft then you can get a quality RB. The drop off between tiers for both positions is very different.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't begrudge anyone taking Rodgers first overall, but I'd rather have one of the top 3 RB's and grab a Big Ben or Eli Manning later on
Voted for Rice btw. Not gonna lie I'm a Ravens stan, so they get extra love from me. But I also had him on my team last year when he finished first in overall pts for RB's, and its a keepers league and he's one of mine, along with Megatron
Scarcity is the word he's looking for.
There are less than 10 running backs who you know will get the bulk of the carries on their team, barring injuries, and only the top few are elite and worth 30-50 points more than the later half of the 10.
Every other RB after that is a crapshoot. So while Rodgers/Brees/Brady may have scored the most TOTAL points in your league last year, you only got one shot at an Elite runner, where as with QB's, theirs 20 to pick form that are 'fine'.
So only pick a RB if you have a top 3 pick? What's the cut off point where it's better to just draft one of the 3 elite QBs?

Well, a few things come into play:
Your scoring settings
The number of teams in your league
How many RB slots you have
If its a 12 team league, non PPR, and you have to start 2 RB's...The top 10 picks should only have 1 QB(Rodgers) and 1 WR (Megatron) between them.
The rest should be RB's and neither of those two non RB players should go in the top 5 in my mind. At pick 11 or 12, the book end guys will probably grab a RB and a QB/WR rather than 2 RB.

SO only 10 team and 2 RB slots means your league only NEEDS to start 20 RB's a week and there are 32 'starting RB's each week in the NFL.
No PPR (Point Per Reception) means that WR and RB's are weighted equally for your flex positions as well.
With your scoring, the top 20 WR's should all get more than 160 points, the top 20 RB's, more than 140.
So only 30 total weekly positions to fill between ALL of the WR and RB's each week means a LOT of talent on the bench and the waiver.
Also, 6 points for a TD thrown and only -1 for a Pick and 1/2 for a sack levels your top 10 QB's, who should all score more than 300 points.
Aaron Rodgers
Tom Brady
Drew Brees
Matthew Stafford
Should all crack 400 points, then it will fall into the middle of the pack after that, low to mid 300's.
In your league, you'd probably have a case for taking one of those guys very early.
Depends on your leage scoring too.
This is the correct answer.
