I've never heard of NYC being the Mecca of basketball. I've heard Madison Square Garden being called the Mecca, based on the major events that have happened there, but not the city itself.

Honestly, I'd say SoCal is the number one region in basketball. I'm not comparing it to a city, but in general. Lakers/UCLA/High Schools/nice weather year round/hoops on the beach/etc.

PG x MD
Like who?
KD
Oladipo
Jeremy Grant
Steve Francis
Quinn Cook
Ty Lawson

That's all I got so far.
Markelle Fultz (yeah yeah I know), Josh Hart, Jeff Green, Michael Beasley, Roy Hibbert, Rodney Mcgruder, Delonte West, Jarret Jack, Roger Mason Jr, Michael Sweetney (shouldn't even claim this nikka lol)

This past playoffs PG County (only 900,000 ppl mind you) had 8 players in the playoffs:

  1. Kevin Durant, Fort Washington -- Golden State Warriors
  2. Markelle Fultz, Hyattsville -- Philadelphia 76ers
  3. Victor Oladipo, Upper Marlboro -- Indiana Pacers
  4. Jeff Green, Cheverly -- Cleveland Cavaliers
  5. Quinn Cook, Hyattsville -- Golden State Warriors
  6. Ty Lawson, Clinton -- Washington Wizards
  7. Rodney McGruder, Landover -- Miami Heat
  8. Jerami Grant, DeMatha Catholic High School -- Oklahoma City Thunder

I feel Jordan is the GOAT, but Kareem and Bill Russell are the only names I'll accept as valid arguments.

Honestly, you can add Magic as a valid argument too. I don't argue with people if they feel that those players are better than Jordan.

Above the fray.
Is something stunting these young boys development

You look at other states like ca texas and neighboring new jersey is able to send players to the league at a much higher clip

For a place that has so much history why don't yall produce actual legends (new or old)

Yall dont even produce all star reserves

Like CALIFORNIA FOR INSTANCE

Demar Derozan
Klay Thomoson
Kahwii Leonard
Russel Westbrook
James Harden
Ray Allen
Gary payton
Jason Kidd
Gilbert Arenas
Damian Lilard
Paul george

Thats over 7 hall of famers alone
mvps , finals mvps, defensive players of the year.

nikka who was the last legit player from ny :wtf:

Ray Allen is from South Carolina.....think he was a military brat but I remember reading that he played hs ball in SC.

From the 1980s on....NYC produced a LOT of D1 players, specifically point guards

I think one year several high profile programs started NYC point guards....Smith and UNC, Mark Jackson at St Johns...Pearl Washington at Syracuse

If you look at the guys who are from NYC and/or played high school ball there the list of current HOFs is
Kareem,Tiny Archibald,Connie Hawkins, Bernard King,Chris Mullin,Cousy,Lenny Wilkens

5 of those 7 are legit nba legends

Too many distractions in NYC, young players with potential never develop it ....

Also, NBA has moved away from old school pgs who set the table for other players and espcially the big men...
league is dominated by super athletic point guards who score first....and perimeter players now
