Then they need to make some other concessions if they want us to stop using that phrase.

A little give and take. Tit for tat. You know. Politics. That thing they're supposedly so good at. :sas1:

For example, if we can prevent them from getting elected just by using that slogan, maybe they can persuade us to stop using it by... I don't know... giving us healthcare, like every other major country on the planet does? :sas2:

Getting some serious pandemic relief going? :ehh:

Making college tuition free? Wiping out 100% of student loan debt? :ooh:

Stop blindly supporting the military industrial complex and Israel's aggression toward Palestine?:ld:

But hey, if they don't want to do any of that, we're going to keep saying Defund The Police.:umad:

Really shouldn't have admitted that weak spot like there wouldn't be consequences.

Centrist Gang told us to shut up, vote for Biden, and push him left after the election. This is what that looks like. :jawalrus:

It’s just a saying. You can still re-allocate the police budget without saying it. There’s nothing wrong with the idea. It’s just a horrible campaign slogan. I guess it’s about optics. If you think about it, did Trump really intend to “Make America Great Again” but it was an effective slogan.

When you hear:

Defund Planned Parenthood
Defund Public Schools
Defund the Postal Office

You don’t automatically hear allocate funds from those institutions to other programs. You hear take funds from those institutions because they are abusing the funds or the operations aren’t up to par to be appropriate or effective.

Not a bad idea, but it'll be hard to satisfy the true folk putting in work if the concessions aren't about police shyt explicitly.

If Democrats are so shook of a "Defund the Police" slogan, then they need to reform and reallocate ASAP so that the issue isn't at the top of the agenda anymore. The slower they are to do that, the louder the calls are going to get.

how long is this clown gonna keep highkey crying about biden winning the election?

if biden has the political instincts of a cactus fresh off of unseating an incumbent, i cant imagine how low that places bernie's

I don't think anyone has ever suggested Bernie has incredible political instincts. He's just sincere, has the right positions, and is genuinely nice. Even those of us who are fans of his don't portray him as some scheming mastermind of the system.

But Biden didn't beat Bernie or Trump off of political instincts. Biden has gotten embarrassed badly in both his previous runs for president. On his third try, even with institutional backing he was getting washed in the primaries until the right endorsements came through and all his anti-Bernie "opponents" joined forces around him. In the general election he barely won despite facing one of the most hated incumbents of all time who was in the process of killing 300,000 Americans and destroying the economy. Barely winning this damn election in that situation doesn't show shyt about his instincts. He got lucky.

"Defund the police" is an objectively terrible slogan. You can't even get a straight answer on WTF it actually means, and instead of clarifying it to get the messaging on point, people get butthurt and damn near want to fight you. "Oh, you don't like 'Defund the police'? Well 'Abolish the police' then! How you like that? :pacspit:"

Now you even have AOC going, "See, look! Republicans are the ones who really want to defund the police!" So what are we even talking about? Never mind that Biden, Warnock and other Dems said this exact thing and got shytted on for it. :mindblown:
