It's not gonna change, because people unaffiliated with the lifestyle are infatuated and drawn to it. Its just like when cats on here say that crime is American culture---->Americans love crime...
But I'll always ignore people who have strong opinions on situations they've never been part of. It's easy to say what someone should do when you aren't familiar with the walk...
Far as rappers go, going to jail doesn't make someone a g. Likewise, someone who was outside but managed to stay free, that doesn't validate their g, either. When guys outside are referring to other nikkas as "gangstas", it's more about that guy's character, rather than a particular act (though the acts matter)...
What I will say, is that if a guy is saying he was with the gunplay, there's a paper trail that follows those types. You don't get charged or convicted for everything, but if you were playing with em it's gonna be documented...
Corny nikkas on here get mad when I first person shyt, but I was once charged with attempted murder, once investigated (but not charged) for another attempted murder, once investigated (but not charged) in a murder. I can't think of a soul I ever knew personally, who was a shooter, where there was never no trail on em. The streets knew who they were and so did the police, and this translates to rappers because guys like Magnolia Slim and King Von, there were various investigations into them...
So if a rapper tells you he was a shooter but there's no documentation of it, there are exceptions to every rule but 99% of those guys, if there's no history of it then he's exaggerating. Guys who are shooters are on police radar...
This doesn't mean everyone who has a shooting charge was a gangsta, but for sure if a nikka tell you he was a gangsta on that gun shyt and doesn't have the validation, nah!
Being a weight man or big dopeboy is somewhat different because you can fly under the radar getting money if you move right. Now I do think there's a certain point, if you really really hood rich, you get on police radar too, they know those guys too. If you reach a huge level then of course it's coming crashing down...
The inverse of this is there are a ton of people with drug charges who weren't heavyweights, so having drug cases doesn't mean you were a heavyweight. You got nikkas on here who think if ain't no book or documentary been written about you that means you were a nobody
which isn't true either, that's the thought process of someone who isn't close to the lifestyle...
When it comes to rappers, it's all opinion, I don't know these guys any more than anyone else. But I trust my judgment as someone who been around the personalities of the streets, so generally if I'm watching someone I have a feel for em. Ultimately the city you from will vouch, and dudes are right, there are always people that'll be like "nah he wasn't like that". I don't know bruh, I just trust my instincts with dudes...
You judge how g a nikka is, based off your interpretation of what g is. To some, all you gotta do is say you're one and flash money phones and guns on camera. It's a huge grey area but I know when you in the lifestyle people don't just view any nikka with bread or any nikka with a kill, as gangstas...
And in the real streets they definitely don't be like "ain't no video or books been written about you, you not no gangsta"
...
