If a Woman gets Naked in a Film, Does it Help or Hurt Her Career?

I was having a conversation with a few of my homies last night and it all stemmed from me watching Heartbreakers. My boy is upset Jennifer Love Hewitt has never, in his exact words, "shown her nips" and feels like she should've a long time ago, mostly for his own reasons, Then my other homie brought up the fact that her not showing off her gift may have led to her not having a big career like Anne Hathaway (even though I'd argue that she's not as good of an actress, but that's neither here nor there) and we start going down a mini list of actresses who've shown off on camera and how it hasn't hurt their careers at all, so they make the correlation that breasts=success in hollywood. Are they right though?

Angelina Jolie is a huge star, one of the biggest in the world, and she's got no problem being topless. Anne Hathaway, Rosario Dawson, Halle Berry, Kate Winslet, Selma Hayek, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Michelle Williams. And that's not even the full list. All of them are stars to varying degrees but they consistently get work so is there something to it? Ladies, feel free to chime in too since your opinion definitely matters on this subject.

I think it helps. Shows that she is willing to go the extra mile to make her character more believable. I roll my eyes whenever I see sex scenes in 14A above movies and the girl is laying in bed with her shirt on. Who does that? Or when they cover their titties with the blanket. C'mon, dude just fukked you. Why you hiding your t*ts now?

Doesn't that depend on the director though? Well it can but it doesn't have to I guess. BUT, let's just assume she's down but the director decides he doesn't want to have any nudity in the film, is that her fault? And 14A is the equivalent of an R rating in the states right?

No mention of Eva Green? I'd say at this point in her career she's probably the best example of an actress who has definitely benefited from getting naked.

Yea, 14A you can show nudity. Hell Titanic was PG and they showed titties. I don't think ANY director would stop an actress from showing them things. If he cuts it out he can always put it in the uncut version when it comes out on video and that would generally make the movie more money. no?

Probably not, because I'm sure the only getting naked that helps their career is getting naked on casting couches.

Yeah you know beforehand if the role will require you to be naked so it's not something you're going to change on set.

As far as examples go, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was going to be rated R initially, think about that lol.

James Cameron is a director with some sway and clout so in his PG 13 movie you can have nudity and it's still rated R but what's the difference between Rosario's nudity in Trance and Kate Winslet's in Titanic?

I think in the 90's early 2000's if you wanted an Oscar you basically had to go nude like Halle Berry and Charlize Theron did. But, nowadays actresses have a lot more power in the industry so people like Sandra Bullock and J Law can get oscars without having to sell themselves short per say. I think in a few years things will go back to normal and women will start being more comfortable showing themselves since half of hollywood just had their nudes leaked online

You might be right but I'd argue the opposite: since all those nudes leaked what if they go in the other direction just to prove they're more then the ass and breasts?
