Ice Cube’s Cube Vision Inks Deal With 20th Century Fox TV & Fox 21 TV Studios

Ice Cube’s Cube Vision has signed a wide-ranging first-look deal with 20th Century Fox TV and its division Fox 21 Television Studios for TV projects targeting broadcast, cable and streaming platforms. Under the two-year pact, Cube has teamed up with his longtime manager Jeff Kwatinetz of The Firm to run Cube Vision’s television production operation. Together, they will serve as executive producers on projects they develop spanning various genres, including comedy, reality, drama, animation and specials.

In addition to securing Ice Cube and Kwatinetz’s producing services, the deal allows 20th TV and Fox 21 to tap into Cube Vision’s music publishing library for use in television properties. For Kwatinetz, his producing duties at Cube Vision under the Fox deal will be separate from his production activities at his company, The Firm (Salem, Notorious).

“It’s hard to think of a more multidimensional artist than Ice Cube, whose influence on the culture and enormous talent is virtually unrivaled,” said Fox Television Group Chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman. “He’s a performer, a songwriter, a recording artist, an actor and a filmmaker, and his work speaks to a broad, multigenerational audience. We’ve been dying to be in business with him for years, and we think the combination of Cube and his incredibly talented producing partner Jeff Kwatinetz is going to result in some very compelling television.”

Cube Vision is producing the upcoming Hollywood Squares reboot for VH1. The series, Hip Hop Squares, debuts in Spring 2017. Cube’s next big on-screen role is in the Warner Bros. Pictures’ Fist Fight which will be released in February 2017. He will also will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Summer 2017.

“I’m very happy and excited to work with the talented and creative people at Fox,” Ice Cube said. Their ability to bring groundbreaking television of every type through both cable and broadcast makes them the perfect partner for Cube Vision.”

Kwatinetz praised N.W.A. alum Ice Cube, producer/star of the hit Barbershop and Ride Along franchises, producer of Straight Outta Compton, and star of the 21 Jump Street franchise. In TV, Ice Cube previously executive produced the TBS sitcom Are We There Yet?

“Ice Cube’s creative prowess spanning writing, music, producing and a rich understanding of story coupled with Fox’s commitment to this partnership will surely bring meaningful and exciting programming to television,” said Kwatinetz, who was instrumental in negotiating the deal. “We cannot wait to get started.”
