That part gave me pause too. No Cam and Mase.

Here's the weird thing about the geographic designations in Hip Hop.

East Coast is New York. Almost exclusively. Yes, Jerz and Philly are East Coast but pretty much NYC metro.

Then theres groups from Boston and other random cities in the NE. But they all basically do the New York style.

West Coast. It's pretty big geographically but essentially you have LA and the Bay. Theres groups from Seattle and other random cities out there.. etc.

Midwest and South are different.

From Chi to Cleveland to St Lou to Detroit you have multiple, different states and scenes lumped together. They have similarities but are not all from the same root.

South is even "worse" as far as combining different styles into one category.

Miami, Atlanta, and New Orleans, are all totally different. Even Dallas and Houston aren't the same style. The South is meant to be like a dozen or more different states all crammed together. That name is not precise or accurate enough.

Geto Boys had way more in common with West Coast gangsta rap than anything considered South.. at the time.
