I would never have guessed that DC would surpass Marvel in the Art Department

from being a major comic book geek from the late 80s- 90s(stopped in 97)

Ever since Jim Lee took his wildstorm crew over they have been artisticly superior

I just read Avengers vs X-men, AvsX, and for such a major event, the art was shyt, only the kuberts issues were good:shaq2:

and I bough Uncanny Avengers last week and the art is shyt..this is supposed to be the new flagship title and it was the kind of shyt you would see in a 6 page story in Marvel Comics Presents, not a heavy hitter title:huhldup:

but then Im reading Justice League and see Jim Lee, than see advertisements from the other books and remember all them cats from Image doing the windstorm books:leon:

im shocked at the fall off
why cant Joe Quesada draw Uncanny Avengers himself, Jim Lee is in the same position he is in DC and hes still active:yeshrug:

His art has degraded as time has gone by, same with Liefeld.

Liefeld always sucked..he just got props cuz he was young..but I got him to sign my Copy of X-force 1 with the Cable Card and Youngblood 1...:smugdraper:

I got Jim Lee to sign X-men 1 with the fold out cover and uncanny x-men 275.... :ahh:

I did'nt hate his early 90's work, but the more popular he got, the more lazy he became.

his art works in gritty books
but on main books:wtb:
:scusthov: remember when my granny got me a subscription to spectacular spiderman I was pretty amped...until I got that first issue and saw the art. He pretty much ruined it for me. I did check out kick ass years later and I can see he's better, but be still ain't really shyt.

The funny thing is I've noticed some of the guys I was a big fan of, I really don't like now. Remember when I used to think Jim lee was amazing during his X-men run, now, with his recent DC stuff, it's the same style, but I'm just not amazed by his art anymore. Liefeld was the same way, but much worse. One of my favorites then and til this day is Jae Lee. Love dudes style I like it when artists can handle non superhero work really well. I think that's when the talent really shines. His work on the dark tower series is amazing. I really like when artist have their own distinct style, even when it's not conventional. It's always why I Was a big fan of Texiera. I loved the little mini run he did with Sabertooth years ago. Is he working on a book right now?

And this is the problem with comic book artists. Once they hit a certail level their hunger levels drop because they know they will never get fired. The game needs new blood for real because it bothers me a bit to see the same crop of artist that were around in my teen years (20+ years ago)

I will say jim lees 90s work is better than his dc stuff but he's still superior to the shyt marvel has now
I'm just shocked because marvel always had the best artwork and all the rising talent
You walk in looking at the books on the shelf and they cocktease the fukk out of you with a nice cover than a completely different artist and it looks like shyt
Marvel needs to step their bullpen up

Not many recent artists have had the impact on comics like Jim Lee, i think X-Men vol 2 #1 cover is up there with some of the most iconic works of art in general.
