"God saved you....":russ:

Earlier in the interview he talks about Whitney Houston's father convincing her to turn down the Babydoll role, which she regretted, because it a small part. He thought of Denzel to play Eddie King but Michael Wright killed his audition

I could see Clifton as Eddie. Not sure he makes sense as Flash

Michael Jai? Too brolic and young to be convincing as an R&B singer. Imagine Big Red trying to put hands on MJ :russ:like he was Bird.

Allen Payne...maybe Choir Boy. His natural speaking voice doesn't make sense for Dresser. I'd never believe he sung bass.

Fancy/Garcelle definitely could have been ol girl that fukked around on Duck.

This was during a time when few predominantly black films were made. Unless you were Spike Lee, Keenan Ivory Wayans, or a soon to be John Singleton it was hard as hell to get a “black” film made in Hollywood. Robert Townsend briefly had that juice so it made sense so many up and coming black actors were auditioning for something that wasn’t stereotypical. I’n surprised Jada Pinkett, Larenze Tate, and Halle Berry weren’t auditioning.
