Whitney Houston fans who felt Lifetime’s 2015 small screen biopic didn’t do a diva of her stature justice may be elated to learn her iconic story is headed to the big screen courtesy of her Pat Houston-run estate.

Details inside:

Report:

“A feature film on the life of iconic songstress Whitney Houston is fast forming. The Whitney Houston Estate, Primary Wave and Grammy-winning music producer Clive Davis have teamed up for ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody.’ They are negotiating with ‘The Photograph’ helmer Stella Meghie to direct.

Scripting and producing is Anthony McCarten, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter who wrote the biographical films The Two Popes, Darkest Hour, Bohemian Rhapsody, and The Theory Of Everything.

The Whitney Houston film will be produced by Pat Houston on behalf of the Houston Estate, Davis, Larry Mestel on behalf of Primary Wave Music, Denis O’Sullivan, and McCarten through his Muse of Fire Productions banner. Primary Wave Music is a partner of the Whitney Houston estate. The film will benefit from the use of Houston’s many hit songs.”

Pat Houston released a statement on the forthcoming film:

“The Estate of Whitney Houston is more than elated to be involved with a group of people that are as passionate about Whitney’s life story as we are. Whitney’s legacy deserves only the best that can be given. I stand with the hearts of these partners being the chosen ones to produce a film that’s uplifting and inspiring to all that loved her, giving you a reason to continue to celebrate The Voice that we all fell in love with and will cherish forever!”

While Houston’s life has been the topic of a number of movie projects since her 2012 death, ‘Dance’ comes as the second Houston Estate-approved motion picture to hit theaters following 2018’s ‘Whitney’ documentary.

I don’t care about any criticisms anybody has regarding Whitney anymore. It’s well past the time to leave her the fukk alone.
:snoop:
There’s been a doc and movie every year since she died. Lifetime is also dragging some bullshyt out this year.

There are very few stars that have been mocked and dragged more than her. Even if this movie is in the style of Freddie Mercury’s film, they need to give it a rest for a good 10-15 years.

She has unreleased songs. Her estate made $10 million last year from one of them becoming a hit in the UK. Why don’t they just stay with that route.

bobby lawyer...the fukk up....
Bobby wrote a tell all book completely from his side and made a BET movie where he got the play the part of the perfect saint. He literally has no legal or moral grounds to sue for defamation.

They can’t accuse him of putting her on drugs and I don’t think they would do that anyway. Everyone that new her before fame has already discussed the hows and whys her drug use began. Granted that this movie will be from her point of view, things like his alleged physical abuse and jealousy, cheating, Bobby Jr.’s conception, the plate cutting incident, her dancers allegedly quitting because of his sexual harassment, etc. will he brought up.

Robyn’s tell all book was probably the harshest critic of Bobby but I’m not sure how likely Whitney’s family is to use it because it was even more critical of them.

Yep and they gon have the darkest breh they could find to play Bobby and he will be the villain.
Bobby was and is darkskinned.

Villain like how Whitney was the villain of his BET movie? I won’t even get into but there’s way more bias towards Bobby than Whitney in modern times.

Like the outright and popular lie that she got him on drugs when all of his boys/New Edition members have stated that it started in his teens. There’s also the lie that she stole his money when in the past he admitted reckless spending habits. He also went into foreclosure in the early 90s. He spent his own money up very quick.

He told that bullshyt story about her cheating with Pac when it doesn’t make any sense regarding the time frames while ignoring the several confirmed affairs he has had including an outside baby. It’s very convenient that a dead icon happened to be the only person he could name to sell his book.

People act like she dragged his career down when people who worked with him have talked about his laziness and cockiness. His long arrest record doesn’t have anything to do with her. There are also countless drug addicts that continued to work while getting high so I don’t want to hear anything about.

Like I’m not saying Whitney is a saint and I think her family are the true villains in her story but don’t like Bobby is this big victim in 2020.
